DIY Sugar Scrub

Before the holidays this year, I hosted my first make-and-take event where I invited some family and friends to make sugar scrubs as holiday gifts (or not!). I’ve been using it ever since, and it’s amazing!! I use it in the shower, and since it’s mostly sugar, it dissolves as I use it and doesn’t clog the drain. This scrub is a perfect exfoliator and moisturizer, and leaves my skin super soft in these dry winter months.

Ingredients:

Unrefined sugar: I found this at the dollar store!

Coconut Oil (I melted it before I mixed everything): https://amzn.to/2r45FMH

Lavender petals: https://amzn.to/2CU66vF

Mason jars with labels: https://amzn.to/2XqqcqV

Wood spoons: https://amzn.to/37kEtd6

First, grab a jar and mix your ingredients. I used about 3oz of sugar for 1oz of coconut oil. For this event, I used a large wooden spoon as the measuring device for the sugar – three big scoops for 1 TBS of oil (the measurements obviously don’t need to be exact!).

Next, choose your recipe! My favorite was lemon essential oil with lavender petals, but you can choose any oil combination that you like! I use Young Living essential oils for all of my recipes – one of my favorites is Stress Away, which I used in my Fall Queen scrub!:

10 drops of Cinnamon, 5 drops of Nutmeg, and 5 drops of Stress Away

The lavender petals are totally optional, but I feel like they were a really nice touch! You can mix them in or sprinkle them on top. Lavender is one of the best oils you can use for your skin – it helps to hydrate, smooth, and protect, so adding the petals is a great boost to this recipe.

So there you have it! Use it as a gift or keep it for yourself 🙂
