DIY Bug Spray

When we’re traveling, we are almost always camping, hiking, or doing some other outdoor activity. In some places, this means that we encounter some pretty serious bugs, which can quickly become annoying and frustrating (mosquitos in the North East are no joke).

I wanted an alternative solution to traditional bug sprays, since many of them can contain harmful chemicals that I would rather not spray on my skin or breathe in. Since I’ve been learning so much more about how to use essential oils, I reached out to my Young Living community to find a recipe for an all natural bug repellent that I could share.

All of YL’s oils are 100% organic and created from plants, so they are safe to use on skin! This recipe is super easy and takes less than 5 minutes to put together.

You’ll want to use glass amber bottles (like these) for your recipes – glass because plastic doesn’t interact well with oils, and amber (or blue) because it will protect your solution from the sun, which can reduce effectiveness over time.

In a small spray bottle, combine:

10 drops of Citronella
